Mr. Yeh Yu-The interview 2020/11/19

Chia: Today is 2020/11/19, I'm with one of the chairman of Lion's club Taiwan Mr. Yeh Yu-The.

Mr.Yeh: Hello everyone, my name is Mr. Yeh Yu-The. I join the lion's club for 10 years I was chapter chairman, zone chairman, original chairman, 63th chairman of lion's club South zone Taiwan.

Chia:What part of your personal biography or background led you to this position?

Mr.Yeh:Lions club leader's always have a keep learning mind when they provide social service. We serve is our central idea. We have a learning and servicing mentality. So I have a serving mind when I'm doing my job.

Chia:What cultural identities/experiences are most salient for you?

Mr.Yeh:The experience in Lion is most important for me, through the education training FDI I learn about Lion.

Chia: What experiences have most shaped you as a leader?

Mr.Yeh:I take myself as an leader example. I learn from each other, organize different events and join FDI class.

Chia:Were you called into leadership or did you seek it because of held convictions?

Mr.Yeh:Both of it, at first I was passive participate Lion. After learning the experience from Lion I become more initiative.

Chia:How have you learned from obstacles and challenges faced?

Mr.Yeh:Lion has a great education system and resource. If there's obstacles the senior in the organization will give me advice and help me and I will learn from them. Chia:What does leadership mean to you?

Mr.Yeh:Leadership means servicing others and learning to me.

How would you characterize your leadership style?

Mr.Yeh:My leadership style is servicing others.

Chia:What are your professional strengths/weaknesses?

Mr.Yeh:Strengths: I join the FDI training so I know how to effective make use of the skill I learn from FDI.

Chia:What or who has been your greatest influence?

Mr.Yeh:My mother is one of the leader in Lion. I learn the Lion spirit from her, the "We serve" spirit.

Chia:Leaders help to turn ideas into action and empower others. How do you accomplish this?

Mr.Yeh:As a Lion leader we need to accept different ideas, because we all work together. I'm not working by myself. Break down the work so that everyone feels involved

Chia:Do you feel it is important to delegate? If so why? When/how do you delegate?

Mr.Yeh:Very important, through the delegate assign work to each member so that everyone has a common goal and centripetal force for the service and produces intense emotions.

Chia:How do you measure success and how do you learn from failure?

Mr.Yeh:We can't use dichotomy to judge failure. If everybody wants to hit a same goal, it will defiantly success; Even the result is not satisfied enough. God will make a best arrangement. To avoid failure, the most important thing to learn from failure. Take blood donation as an example, what is the difference between 100 packs and 300 packs of blood? There's no difference, both of them can help.

Chia:What are two or three action steps you believe are essential to enable others to be successful?

Mr.Yeh:Always reading, follow the goal from the international General Conference to go ahead.

Chia:What advice do you have for building relationships and trust in an organization?

Mr.Yeh:If we have a same goal, we are more motivated to help.

Chia:What do you want your legacy to be?

Mr.Yeh:I want to help sustainable development the organization. I hope there are leaders have same idea like me in the future.

Chia:Do you think capable people should help the weak for granted?

Mr.Yeh:I don't think only capable people can help the weak. Everybody has the ability to help. No matter how their ability is, everybody has the ability to contribute.

Chia:How to effectively expand the organization?

Mr.Yeh:Lion will show a actual performance to inspire the public. If they are been inspire by us, they will want to join us.
